George Clooney’s Oscar speech also created a stir at America’s Shittiest Website™ a/k/a “The Corner,”where JPod and his doughy albino playmate Iain Murray are busy adducing examples of how Hollywood hasn’t been so nice to black folks. Never mind National Review’s own racist history. And never mind that no black people are allowed to play with the white kids at the Korner. For JPod and Murray to call Hollywood racist is rather like the super-sized JPod calling Michael Moore fat (which, in fact, he just did in this post). These people have no shame.
Anyway, Iain starts out with this:
ANOTHER INCONVENIENT TRUTH FOR GEORGE CLOONEY [Iain Murray]
Isn’t it the case that the fearless Academy didn’t give another award to a black actor until 1989 - fifty years later! - when Denzel Washington got his best supporting actor award for Glory?
JPod then points out that Sidney Poitier got an Oscar in 1963. But Murray stands firm:
OSCAR’S BRAVERY [Iain Murray]
I’d forgotten Poitier got an actual acting award besides his honorary award in 2001. Still, honoring two actors in 50 years isn’t exactly the height of bravery, is it?
I just have five words for these two: fucking Google it, you morons! Before Denzel, there were also Oscars awarded to James Baskett in 1948 and Lou Gosset, Jr. in 1982.
And, of course, the snappy retort from Poddie and Murray would be “only 4 in fifty years?” to which, of course, the natural response would be that’s four more African-Americans than are on the staff of lily-white writers at National Review.
